When my children were little we had a neighbor, Maggie. Her Nana would come over and make this once a year. It was an old family recipe. Mine never were quite as good as Nana's but we still enjoyed them. I added a little vinegar sometimes to the dumpling/bacon fry.


INGREDIENTS
  1. 1/4 lb bacon
  2. 1 Medium Onion; Chopped
  3. 1/2 head green cabbage; sliced
  4. 4-5 medium potatoes; grated
  5. flour
  6. salt & pepper
DIRECTIONS
  1. Dice the bacon, fry, and set aside reserving the fat.
  2. Saute chopped onion in bacon fat.
  3. Steam cabbage with salt and pepper and mi with onions
  4. For the dumplings add flour and salt to grated potatoes until pasty.
  5. Drop by teaspoon into boiling salted water and cook for 10 - 15 minutes.
  6. Dice 1/4 pound bacon and fry with cooked dumplings. Serve with cabbage/onion mixture.
